Today is my last day in LA. I met my high school friend, Eva Herbst Davis, in downtown Los Angeles (City of Angels) at Skyspace LA. It is the tallest open-air observation deck, 1,000 ft. above the city.
During high school, Eva and her parents provided me a safe and loving home when mine was not. Growing up in a family that was in so much pain,  everyone expressed their pain in unskillful ways. It was so confusing. I turned that confusion inwards and blamed myself. I thought if it’s my fault then at least I can do something to make it better.
Eva loved me through my ups and downs. Her parents loved me and saw me as a beautiful child of this Universe, whole, complete, loveable. Their love sustained me during my brother’s death, while I struggled with an eating disorder, and until I  got help and learned how to stop turning my pain and confusion on myself.
Who are the angels in your life?
